Music Program
Bows of Holly, by Dennis and Nan Allen
This Christmas musical will be performed on
Monday, December 17th at 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm. all students in Kindergarten
through fifth grade are participating as cast and chorus, while many students in
the upper grades are volunteering as directors and sound and stage crew.
In this Christmas musical, Holly has
launched a Christmas toy and food drive for the needy. It's for a good
cause and her heart is in the right place...at first. When she starts
getting a lot of publicity, it seems she loses focus on the reason she's doing
it. Then when everything she has collected is stolen by some street kids,
Holly's "gifts" start having strings attached.
The story will parallel the story of God's
gift to us...so perfect and undeserved. It also urges us all to think
about Christ's command: "Let your light so sine before men, so they will see
your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)
In that vein, we have asked friends and
parents to help us out with "props" for this musical. For the play, we
are using donated canned goods that the children will be packing and moving
on stage as they are collecting for the needy. The canned goods will be
used in the play and then-at this time of year when so many food pantries are
low on food- they will be donated to St. Thomas' food pantry, so we too
may let our lights shine and help those in need during the holidays.
